The wedding season is now in full swing and when you’re out celebrating with your loved ones the last thing you want to be worrying about is your makeup. In this tutorial we’ll show you how to get the best, summery look that will leave you feeling confident and fresh all day and long into the night.

Step 1: Start at the bottom

Using a baby-butt cream is an excellent way to keep your skin soft and well hydrated. Applying a generous amount under the eyes will act as a buffer and stop the foundation from sinking into any light creases.

Pro tip: Applying a little cream over the eyes will also help the eye shadow stick and hold in place.

Step 2: Tears of joy

Witnessing your friends and loved ones tie the knot can be an emotional experience. When that familiar tingle hits the corners of your eyes then you’ll need to be prepared for the waterworks. To avoid having eyeliner running down your cheeks then skip a lower liner and just apply pencil to the outer half of your upper eyelids, thus avoiding the ‘wet-zone’.

Step 3: Burnt toast

Using a white eye shadow over the whole eyelid will lift the eyes and give a fresh summer feel.

Follow this with a warm shade of brown and apply a line with a small, soft brush in an upward stroke.

Applying a darker shade close to the eyelashes will give a gradient effect as shades of brown blend gently into the white below.

This effect is affectionately known as the ‘burnt toast’ look.

Pro tip: Dry the eyebrows with a light powder or brush which will help colour to stick when applied later.

Step 4: Roll with it

Use a large brush to add a liquid foundation the main facial points (forehead, cheeks, nose and chin) and then roll a beauty blender across the whole face to give an even finish. Tap the face gently all over with a natural shade bronzer.

Pro tip: Use a liquid concealer and dab on some spots under the eyes, this will help the Touche Eclat stick and hold in place.

Step 5: Get cheeky

For the first contouring on the cheeks, follow the line below the cheekbone down towards the mouth and apply a gentle application with a large, soft brush.

A pinky/orange shade of liquid blusher can be added over the cheekbone and dabbed with your finger to blend. This will reflect the light and join the darker contouring shade to really lift the cheeks nicely.

Pro tip: Fill in in the brows with a dark powder, this will really help the eyes to stand out.

Step 6: The finishing touches

Bronzing the forehead close to the hairline with a light golden bronzer will also reflect the light and any blemishes can be filled in with a light concealer. Gently outline the lips with a natural warm shade of pink,

followed by a coat of lipstick.

Pro tip: Curling the eyelashes close to the lash line will allow the lashes to follow the natural shape of the eye socket. It’s a common mistake to just curl the ends so don’t be afraid to go in deep.

Finally, keep the whole look in place with a spritz of fixing spray that will retain your fresh, summer wedding face all day and long into the night… even if you do shed a tear or two.
