Visually lifting droopy eyes

A cat eye flick is a great way to lift droopy eyes but if your eyes are also hooded then this method won’t work. Let’s look at another technique that will give the same lift without the use of an eye liner.

Step 1: What to do and what not to do

The easiest way to lift droopy eyes would be to add a cat flick, but because Denise’s eyes are also hooded we need to try something different.

Sculpting the eyebrows is a great way to give natural lift to droopy eyes, we’ll demonstrate this in the next step with the help of a pencil.

Pro tip: Avoid the cat flick if you have hooded eyes because the line will break.

Step 2: Let’s get started

Applying a bright colour all over the eye will instantly open it up and make it look less droopy.
The Zoeva Cocoa Palette is a favourite of ours and the lightest shade is the perfect place to start.

Look at where the hood starts on the outer edge of the eye, then apply a thin line of dark shadow to the outer edge, as you would with a pencil liner, but without bringing it the whole way across the eye.
If you want to lift the eye even further, it can be extended and connected to the lower eyelid and just go with the outer 1/4th section with the same shade of dark line.

Pro tip: Allow yourself just the tiniest of flicks so that the hood won’t break the line and you’ll already be looking more lifted.

Step 3: Downturned and deep set...

Denise also has deep set eyes, as we can see from the shadow of the brow bone. We could follow this and add a darker shade, as would be the norm for deep set eyes, but with Denise’s downturned eye shape we actually need to use techniques for prominent eyes.

Finish by apply a light, we’re using beige here, line of pencil to the lower eyelid in the waterline.

Step 4: Brows night out

This is quite a heavy look so it’s best suited for a night out. Start by making a line from the inside and bring it upwards through to the centre of the brow, then arch around and change to a downwards direction. Apply the colour in the opposite direction from the brows, this gives a much better finish.
When you’re applying pencil to the brows don’t pull them, try to draw the colour on with them in their natural position.

Pro tip: Be careful not to draw the inner part of the eyebrow down too far or too wide, this technique will give lift to your eyes but holy-moley it can have disastrous results.

When you’re changing the brow shape, it’s hard to keep it looking natural. Girls you might see on Instagram will have sculpted their brows in a specific way to compliment certain makeup techniques. Bear this in mind before making any drastic changes.
